Kamilah Monique Coleman started her formal dance training at the age of 10 at Footnotes the School for Classical Dance under the instruction of Debbie Spivey. There, she studied various dance styles such as ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and musical theatre. Kamilah Coleman has studied at various summer intensives as well. These include the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities and North Carolina School of the Arts. Throughout her high school career, Kamilah was a member of the Palmetto Center for the Arts Magnet program at Richland Northeast High School under the instruction of Dr. Anne Richardson. In 2010, she traveled abroad to Kiev, Ukraine for a week of master ballet classes at the Pioneer Palace. Some of Kamilah Coleman's accomplishments include being named the "Top Senior Super Soloist" at the Encore DCS 2010 Regionals Competition & becoming the recipient of the "Grand Finals Scholarship." In 2011, Kamilah won 3rd place for her contemporary solo in the Youth America Grand Prix International Ballet Competition at regionals and has recently won 1st place in the Senior Age Division at YAGP for her Contemporary Solo. Kamilah is currently a dance instructor at Celestial Stars. Kamilah will also attend the University of South Carolina in the fall and is a proud member of the Carolina Girls Dance Team! :)
